# About Us We are the team behind **The Syrian Revolution | RevSyria**. Our story began on **January 18, 2011**, when the page was launched under the name: **The Syrian Revolution 2011 – The Syrian Revolution Against Bashar al-Assad** From the very beginning, the page was never the project of one person, nor was its history built around a single name. It was a collective Syrian effort that started with a small group and grew alongside the revolution, eventually involving hundreds of Syrians—women and men—from inside Syria and abroad. Many worked behind pseudonyms and away from the public eye, at a time when publishing a news report, photograph, or video from inside Syria could pose a real danger to the person sharing it and to their family. As the work expanded, the page developed into several teams, each with its own responsibilities, while all working under one name: **The Syrian Revolution**. ## The Administration Team The administration team was responsible for managing the page, coordinating the work of the different teams, overseeing content, making decisions, and handling overall coordination to ensure the continuity of the project despite the circumstances and challenges that accompanied the years of the revolution. ## The News and Verification Team This team was responsible for receiving news, photographs, videos, and information from different parts of Syria, reviewing and verifying them before publication. Speed was never our only goal. Finding information, verifying it, and preserving it were fundamental parts of the page’s work. ## The Correspondents and Local Coordination Teams They were the voice of the ground and the link between the page and Syrian cities and towns. Through communication with correspondents, activists, and local coordination groups, reports, testimonies, and developments from the field reached the page—and from there, Syrian audiences, international media, and the wider world. ## The Design and Media Team This team developed the page’s visual identity and produced graphics, campaigns, and media materials that accompanied the various events, occasions, and stages of the Syrian revolution. The image and the written word were both essential tools for documenting events and conveying the voices of Syrians. ## The Communications and Follow-up Team This team worked to connect the different departments of the page, communicate with activists, sources, and media organizations, and follow up on incoming materials and organize them in a way that supported the project and ensured its continuity. # The Page Was Never One Person Over the years, hundreds of volunteers—women and men—contributed to The Syrian Revolution page. Some remained involved for years, while others participated during specific periods. Some worked under their real names, others were known to their colleagues only by pseudonyms, and many worked behind the screen without the public ever knowing their names. But every one of them has a place in the history of this page. That is why we do not reduce the history of The Syrian Revolution to one individual or a group of names. Its history was built by everyone who reported a story, documented an event, verified information, designed an image, shared a video, communicated with an activist, or helped keep the page’s voice alive. There are many names, but the name that brought everyone together was one: **The Syrian Revolution | RevSyria** # Who Are We Today? The Assad regime has fallen, and a long chapter in Syria’s history has come to an end. But the responsibility of RevSyria has not. The era has changed, and so has our mission. Today, we continue to work as an **independent Syrian media and documentation team**, dedicated to preserving the memory and archives of the Syrian revolution, documenting its history, following issues that concern Syrians, and covering Syria’s transition toward building a new state. We are not a political party. We are not a government institution. And we do not claim to represent all Syrians. We stand for **Syria’s unity and sovereignty, the rule of law, justice, citizenship, and strong state institutions**. At the same time, we believe that supporting the state does not mean remaining silent in the face of wrongdoing, and that responsible criticism and accountability are essential to building a country that respects its citizens. We reject sectarianism, incitement, and hate speech. We also reject turning disagreements among Syrians into a means of tearing apart a society that has already paid a heavy price over decades. # Our Memory Is Our Responsibility Building Syria does not begin by forgetting what happened. The records of martyrs, detainees, and missing persons, the stories of those who were displaced, and the memory of cities, demonstrations, prisons, and the events of the revolution are not merely pages from the past. They are part of Syria’s national memory and must remain preserved for future generations. That is why we continue. Not to return Syria to the past, but to ensure that the past is documented as we move toward the future. Since **January 18, 2011**, faces and names have changed, circumstances and chapters have evolved, but the name that brought us all together has remained: **The Syrian Revolution | RevSyria** **The voice of every revolutionary, woman and man.**
