The Turkish Armed Forces and the Syrian Army have completed the installation of a floating military bridge over the Euphrates River in the city of Al-Mayadin in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.
In a post on his “X” account, Yilmaz said the project was carried out “in cooperation between the Syrian Army and the Turkish Armed Forces,” describing the effort as a step toward building the future “in times of peace as well.”
Yilmaz explained that the bridge’s installation coincided with Turkey’s “Victory Day” and that the bridge was built to replace the old one, which had been destroyed by floods; this is the second project of its kind carried out in cooperation between the two sides.
Defense Minister Marhaf Abu Qasra had previously announced the completion of the military bridge’s construction in Al-Mayadin in cooperation with the Turkish Army.
The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported that the Engineering Directorate at the Ministry of Defense, in coordination with the Turkish Ministry of Defense, began installing the bridge with the aim of restoring cross-river traffic between the two banks of the Euphrates River and facilitating the movement of residents and the transport of goods following the damage inflicted on the previous bridge by the floods.
