Civil Defense teams are continuing their intensive field efforts to respond to the aftermath of the severe weather that hit several governorates yesterday, Saturday, August 29, which was accompanied by heavy thunderstorms and strong winds that led to flooding and road closures.
The Civil Defense published a field response report documenting 58 emergency responses across five governorates, with Latakia Governorate recording the highest number at 35 responses, followed by Idlib with 10 responses, then Homs and Hama with 5 responses each, while Aleppo recorded 3 responses.
The report noted that the prevailing weather conditions affected 20 families, while teams were able to evacuate 3 families to safe areas.
It added that the field teams’ efforts included pumping rainwater out of 43 homes flooded by flash floods, as well as reopening 56 blocked roads and clearing drains, storm drains, and waterways.
