The “Department for Combating Human Trafficking” was established as an independent department within the ministry’s new organizational structure, which was announced by the ministry’s official spokesperson, Nour al-Din al-Baba, in May 2025, with the aim of upholding human dignity and protecting human rights in the face of increasing crimes against humanity, This step is part of a modern institutional vision aimed at protecting human rights and strengthening the rule of law, and reaffirms that human dignity is a red line that cannot be crossed.
The department works to combat prostitution rings, human smuggling, organ trafficking, begging, and other forms of exploitation, basing its work on Legislative Decree No. 3 of 2010 on Preventing and Combating Trafficking in Persons.
